Fully automatic two-way valve requires only simple pulling and pushing of the syringe plunger for automatic withdrawal and diversion of pleural fluid, eliminating the necessity for constant manipulation. Aspirating needle is equipped with a unique depth clamp that adjusts easily to the desired level of insertion and then locks into place, reducing the risk of over-penetration of the needle into the chest cavity. Once assembled, the closed system allows pleural fluid to be aspirated, and collected with reduced risk of external contamination.
